A Peek Inside The Draft Meetings
Written by Scott on .
While it doesn't appear the Senators are offering up a second season of Senate Reform, they have released a look inside their amatuer scouting meetings. And yes the matching red golf shirts are back.
I've just looked over it once and didn't notice anything askew, but I'm sure there are people already picking apart the frames for any hidden easter eggs.
Any good theories on who they're speaking to here?
It means that they can now show off their North American tape as they're leaning towards a European player.
Keeping in mind this is edited and possibly talking about the same player different at different times
Matt finn, strong for his size, top 4 minutes
Grigorenko: big guy nobody can touch in the slot, 1 min shifts, too many questions marks, not going to draft.
3rd line power forward: Frk
Best Defensive player: I dunno
My best guesses, in order that they're discussed: Grigorenko (long shifts,) Rielly or Pouliot (strong for his size,) Girgensons? (upset that he's our first pick,) Ceci (one thing away from being a complete guy,) Wilson (3rd line power forward,) Dumba (best defensive player in the draft,) Faksa (2nd line with defensive question marks,) Yakupov. Didn't look like anything ground-breaking to me, but still interesting to see inside the war room -- even if it is just what they want us to see.
@Lewy Intrigued by this at the end - "I think he's a special player, anyway we can move up to get him...do it. Difference maker, could play next year." - Grey Royce
Royce scouts in Ontario most of the year, but also sees the Q and WHL. Sounds to me like Ceci or maybe Dumba?
@Wham_City @Nichols6thSens Interesting takes. I think the problem with that kind of comment is that it could apply to at least a few guys. There's not enough context to definitively say.
@Lewy I assumed that they were speaking of Reinhart when they were speaking of moving up.
Burda`s reaction to Fargher disagreeing with Dorion at the 3:00 minute mark is awesome.
