Unfortunately, Tim and I won't be able to attend one of two official Ottawa Senators Draft Parties that are being hosted on Friday, June 26 - at the Local Heroes restaurant at 1525 Bank Street in Ottawa and at the Boston Pizza located at 61 Boul. de la Gappe in Gatineau. Instead, we'll be on a joint bachelor/bachelorette party bus trip that is destined for Montreal.
But for those interested, according to Marketwire:
The draft parties, presented by Molson, Team 1200 Radio, the Ottawa Citizen, CJRC Radio and Le Droit, are set to run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will feature prizes, interactive games, a visit by Spartacat (Local Heroes location only), the Senators Power Patrol and the Molson extreme team. It will also include a special live draft day broadcast on TEAM 1200 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., hosted by Senators broadcaster Gord Wilson at Local Heroes, and a live broadcast on CJRC from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., hosted by Nicolas St-Pierre at Boston Pizza.Sure, those prizes sound great and all, but the true value lies in the off-chance that Chris Kelly is moved on Draft Day with Dany Heatley. Who wouldn't want to see the look on his face as Bob McKenzie and Pierre Maguire break the news and blow their loads over the blockbuster trade? It'd be unintentional comedy at it's finest level.
With broadcast coverage of the entry draft starting at 7 p.m. on TSN and RDS, guests attending the free parties will also be able to participate in 'Hot Stove' panel discussions with Chris Kelly (Local Heroes) and Alexandre Picard (Boston Pizza), Sens alumni, broadcasters and other hockey personalities, beginning at 5:45 p.m.
Leading up to the event, Senators fans are invited to fill out ballots to win dinner in a VIP area with the Sens players at each Senators draft party. In Ottawa, five winners will be selected from ballots available at all Local Heroes restaurants, in the Ottawa Citizen and by listening to Team 1200 radio. In Gatineau, five winners will be chosen from ballots available at Boston Pizza, in Le Droit and by listening to CJRC radio. Visit www.ottawasenators.com for full contest and party details.
Prizes to be won during the draft parties include a private suite for the Senators 2009-10 regular-season opening night game, signed team merchandise and two golf packages, including a Nike golf bag, a Sens golf shirt and golf balls.
