Dany Heatley is still with the Senators tonight.
That may not be the story tomorrow.
Don't believe for a second that "nobody" wants Heatley as some misguided media reports suggest.
That's just not the case.
Those with strong contacts know there are at least four teams that have made calls on Heatley. Those teams either aren't willing to pay the asking price or want the $4 million bonus to pass tomorrow.
GM Bryan Murray has to play hardball. He has no choice. The Heatley camp isn't saying anything because the sense is they've been told keep their mouths shut if they want to see a deal completed.
There were discussions between the two sides on the weekend. Not much was said. Murray told the Heatley camp the club is working on a deal. They should just wait.
So, that is what everybody is doing.
Owner Eugene Melnyk told reporters in Petawawa today that he's "disappointed" with Heatley's approach. He should be more than disappointed. Melnyk should feel like he got duped. He played a big role and helping to keep Heatley in Ottawa.
This is about to come to an end. Might be today. Might be tomorrow. Will happen before September

Like I mentioned this morning in a piece, everything that's being spun through the media is 100% posturing bullshit. Both sides are waiting for the other side to blink and the good news is that we can all hope that this deal goes down as we approach the July 1st deadline on Heatley's front-loaded portion of his salary is owed.
