The past 24 hours have been a buffet for Senators fans debating on radio, in print and online about the return for Dany Heatley (if and) when he is traded. Despite the huge news that Heater has asked for a trade, there is little else to this story. There's a lot of speculating, guessing and arguing with others on forums about individual trade proposals as if it were fantasy baseball...err hockey (only thing worse is fantasy curling).
I've heard and read some ridiculous things about who the Senators can expect in return by people yammering on and using other teams fan responses to legitimize their 'proposals'. Frankly I think you're all nerds for doing so, but that's fine. That's your day and you're the ones who have to fill 24 hours somehow. I won't get derailed here on personal vendettas. This is all an aside from the meat of the matter. Let's see what you got.
CONTEST:
1. Name the team Dany Heatley is traded to (and any other Senators player involved).
2. Name the compensation to Ottawa.
3. Name the date the trade happens.
4. Email your best guess to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so we can turn it into a blog. Or just leave it in the comments section. (Please refrain from bickering amongst each other over whose prediction is stupid and why) Include your name and location. If no one nails it dead on, we will take the closest guess as the winner. There is no prize. Just bragging rights, we will announce the winner after all, this is about your ego, right?
No, this is not a who you want to see come to Ottawa or what would make the organization better type thing, it's just your best guess. Again, reality not fantasy.
My shot in the dark:
On June 25th the following goes down...
To Los Angeles: Dan Heatley and Chris Kelly
To Ottawa: Colten Teubert, Oscar Moller and the 5th overall draft pick.
Graeme's Call:
June 26th, Dany Heatley and Alexandre Picard to Phoenix for Michalek, Turris and their 1st round pick.
