With yesterday's Hartsburg announcement that Brian Elliott will not be returned to the AHL for the remainder of the season, it was only a matter of time before management resolved the lingering Martin Gerber issue.
The Senators are going to officially try to send Martin Gerber packing today.

The goalie's conditioning stint with the club's AHL affiliate in Binghamton has come to an end and he's expected to be placed on waivers as early as today.

While the Senators have tried to deal Gerber, the club hasn't had any interest. There is a belief a club in Europe - possibly in Sweden or Germany -might show interest, but Gerber has to clear NHL waivers first.

Gerber made 32 saves in a 3-0 victory over John Paddock's Philadelphia Phantom Wednesday in Binghamton. Afterwards, assistant GM Tim Murray told the Binghamton Press and Sun Bulletin that a decision will be made soon on Gerber's future with the organization.

There's still no word whether Bruce Springsteen or U2 will perform at a rally on Parliament Hill to commemorate the departure of the Gerber regime.
