Well, after some long and arduous hours, I think I've come up with a thrilling conclusion to the "How Do We Get Mike Fisher's Contract Off of the Books?" saga. The solution lies in the fact that Fisher's NMC expires at the end of next season. Using this against him, Murray could approach Fisher and say:

"Listen Mike, you're NMC expires at the end of next season and we're looking to rebuild here. With your contract and inconsistent play, we (management) have determined that we don't envision you being part of the retooling process. Consequently, whether it's this year or next year, you're going to be gone. While you have a NMC now, it might be in your best interests to prepare and submit a list of teams to which you'll accept a trade because come July 1st, 2010, you will no longer have absolute control for where you play. Sleep on it."

Just think about it. Just think about it.
