For the individual who came to this blog by Google'ing how can ottawa get john tavares, the answer is simple. Ottawa needs to lose. Tank. Give up. Roll over. Underachieve. Not get the bounces. Fall short. Forfeit. Unretire Luke Richardson. Forget how to win. Play like they did for the first half of the season. Lose to the Thrashers. Put Gerber back in nets. And most importantly, finish last in the standings.

I'm beginning to think that that last point might be a tad unrealistic. With Ottawa's improved play, and a goalie not named Martin Gerber, I'm inclined to think that the Sens can't possibly match their record in the first half. (Playoffs!) It also doesn't help that the Islanders are fucking horrible. With Rick DiPietro potentially out for the remainder of the season (due to a knee injury) and players like Guerin and Weight inevitably going on the block, catching the Isles might be a little out of the question. Defeatists everywhere must be shaking their heads, since the Isles have won the head-to-head matchup this season. Could you imagine the Isles address their goaltending situation by acquiring Gerber? You wouldn't even need to play out the remaining games, everything would be sewn up. If I'm Murray, I'm offering Gerber with a silver-lining condition that the lower the Isles finish in the standings, the higher the draft pick Ottawa receives.
