"I can save my job by trading our first round pick probably. I can up our first round pick and get a decent player, but that's the wrong thing to do. It's okay for me or the coach to do that, but for the franchise it's not the right thing to do." -Bryan MurrayThis is some of the best news I've read in a long time. Bryan Murray is looking to the best interests of the team by not moving a first round draft pick. Unless it lands a top flite player, which it won't given the disadvantageous position they are dealing from, it's best to keep those picks. That pick down the road could end up being that power forward the Sens have so desperately wanted to make room for the skill guys, a top pairing defenseman or even that coveted blue chip goaltending prospect. In my opinion keeping picks, and even trading to stock up on picks and young players is the best route for the Senators to take at the moment. There is no reason to mortgage any potential part of the future since there is no instant fix available to the Senators.
