Thank God that it's gameday here in Ottawa, finding fresh news since I've been back is like searching for some body fat on Natalie Portman's frame. Things have been so slow here in the Nation's Capital that the Chris Campoli/Mike Comrie trade was played out by Monday morning. Consequently, we as Senators fans have been bombarded with redundant and obvious Duff/Underwood references and re-affirmations that Bryan Murray isn't done trading. Awesome.
Since I've been away and haven't seen the Senators play in over a week, I figured it'd be a good opportunity to glance around the media and blog coverage of the Senators and see if there's anything worthwhile being said. Tag along and join me on the journey through the Interweb!
The Ottawa Sun:
What the hell? No articles pertaining to another Joe Corvo return to the Capital? Has the Sun staff (read: Brennan) finally gotten over shitting on our favorite frosted tips, tattoo covered, puck moving defenceman? Maybe not, but we are treated to a Brennan piece discussing how Comrie can give Fisher advice on dating celebrities. Awesome. Somehow I don't think Fisher needs advice on how to deal with ex-boyfriends who sing in shitty pop music acts like Good Charlotte.
Black Aces:
Jeremy Milks has taken the time to discuss potential destinations for the Senators' UFAs - Chris Neil and Filip Kuba.
Scarlett Ice:
Discusses how Tom Renney's firing signifies that each Head Coach who opened the season in Europe has been let go.
Sens Army:
Kudos to Ben for getting creative without having to resort to swear words as he discusses a scheme for how to sell Senators tickets during this era of suck. In Peter's last blog, he discusses Renney's firing.
Hockeybuzz:
Eklund insinuates that there's a deal in place to send Chris Pronger to the Senators. I wonder if Pronger's wife will appreciate a move back to Canada? I guess it shouldn't be that problematic since the Ottawa media isn't very attractive.
Mark Christopher, Hockeybuzz:
Apparently Hockeybuzz has a new beat writer for the Senators. Apparently he's the latest name to join into the Senators rumor community. Interestingly, he wrote this:
There is a rumor going around that Jason Spezza has "quietly" asked to be traded, I myself haven't heard this, and no mainstream "Hockey Insider" have "reported" it or even mentioned it, so as much as I may fuel the fire, I think this rumor may be a case of someone else trying to get hits.Is he stepping on the toes of Sens Chirp? Oh, the drama! I better go check out Sens Chirp...
Sens Chirp:
Interesting. There's nothing here but a post refuting the rumor that Spezza has asked for a trade. Hmm, if it's not HB, and it's not Sens Chirp, then who's writing about Spezza?
Kevin Lee, Sports Talk Buzz:
Yikes. This is like a collage of the worst Ottawa Sun articles written over the past 3 years. Only click on the above link if you have strong will power and an ability to refrain from banging your head on your workdesk keyboard. Seriously, for the safety and tranquility of your workplace environment and co-workers, don't do it.
