When I woke up this morning and did my routine perusal of the Ottawa Sun's website, I was refreshingly to two different takes that didn't pin last night's loss to the Sharks on Brian Lee. (Interestingly, Ken Warren from The Ottawa Citizen shat on Lee. Fancy that!)

While Garrioch echoed Cory Clouston's sentiments by characterizing Lee's error as a rookie mistake, Don Brennan took a page out of the Gord Wilson and opted to criticize the officials. Regardless, it's nice to see that neither journalist wasn't throwing Brian Lee under bus. Instead, Brian Lee could be getting on a bus. A bus to Binghamton.

With news surfacing that Martin Gerber has cleared re-entry waivers. Reports seem to be indicating that Brian Lee has been sent down to make room for Gerber on the roster. On the surface, some of you may be asking yourselves, what the hell? I've since tried to get to the bottom of this and because Garrioch broke the news, I sent him this email:
Bruce:

Sorry to bother you but I had a question about Lee's demotion. Was he just demoted on paper but will remain with the team until Gerber is sent back down? I'm writing a piece of on Lee right now.

Thanks,

Well, that provoked this response:
Thanks for reading the Sun.
I have no idea if this was Bruce or an automated response for readers. Consequently, the mystery is still abound with so many questions left unanswered:

Will Brian Lee actually be sent down?

Is this a condemnation of his selfish behavior last night?

Why wasn't Bell sent down instead?

Will we see Martin Gerber ever play in a Senators uniform?

Does Lee's demotion speak volumes about his long term future here with the organization?

Will Lee be packaged this summer to bring in a premier defenceman that this club desperately needs?

Can Bruce Garrioch develop a sense of humor to salvage an amicable relationship with the writers at The 6th Sens?

Stay tuned...

UPDATE
Lee was sent down, is on his way to Binghamton and is scheduled to play tonight against the Hershey Bears. Lee will likely be in Bingo for the weekend which means he could four games in four nights. The club plays back-to-back against Rochester Saturday and Sunday against the Amerks. ~ Bruce Garrioch, Off the Posts
