Great start to the Senators offseason thus far. When Bryan Murray conducted his individual player meetings, he might have sat down with Christoph Schubert and say, "Now Christoph, as of right now, we've got a lot of depth on the blueline. Unless we lose some bodies, we just don't have room for you back there." Whatever Murray actually said, SchUBOAT has taken it upon himself to make room on the Sens blueline.

Word has it that Anton Volchenkov is returning back to Ottawa with a fractured bone in his foot that he sustained blocking a SchUboat slapshot during the Russian v. Germany match in the IIFH World Hockey Championships. Ignore Anton's ignorance in attempting to block a SchUboat shot -- it likely would have missed the net anways. The A-Train injury signifies one thing: the man is mortal. Over the years, we're all guilty of never batting an eye whenever Anton blocked a shot. Why would we? He always came out unscathed. He was the man of steel.

Come on Sens fans, cross your fingers that a Canada v. Germany match doesn't occur. The last thing the Sens defensive corps needs is a walking wounded list featuring Chris "How the Fuck Did I get a NTC? Oh wait, Muckler gave it to me!" Phillips.

This Just In:

Zero wins, five losses.

That's the line that Wade "The New NHL" Redden sports in career playoff game sevens.

For a playoff season that has been marred with great performances by former Sens who have been let go for sweet fuck all -- Big Z, Havlat, Tim Gleason, Brooks Laich, and Joe Corvo -- watching Wade use his patented one-hand on the stick poke-check on Sergei Fedorov's game winning goal was worthwhile. Enjoy five more years of that Rangers fans.
